The simple present tense is used to describe habits, repeated actions ,unchanging situations,
general truths, emotions, wishes and fixed arrangements. The
simple present tense is simple to form. Just use the base form of the verb: (I take, you take,
we take, they take) The only change from the base
is the addition of s for
third person singular (he takes, she takes).
Examples:
To express habits or
unchanging situations:
I smoke cigarette (habit); I work in London (unchanging situation);
To
give instructions or directions:
You walk for two hundred meters, then you turn left.
To express fixed
arrangements:
Your exam starts at 09.00
En síntesis, podemos utilizar el presente simple para hablar de hábitos o rutinas.
HOW DO WE MAKE THE PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE?
There is a basic structure for the Simple Present Tense in first and second persons (I,you,we,they) :
1.Positive sentences
Subject
+
Verb
+*
Complement
Para elaborar oraciones en presente simple necesitamos de la anterior estructura ⬆ Examples: They (Subject) Play (Verb) Piano (Complement). Juan , peter and I (Subject) eat (Verb) Pizza (Complement).
Observa la guía que hace referencia a una rutina diaria.
Con ayuda del siguiente vídeo podrás practicar la pronunciación de las acciones descritas en la guía anterior y afianzar su significado.

Rules
Normally in the present
tense we add S to the end of the verb in the 3rd person (He,
She, It).

He speaks three languages.
She drinks coffee every morning.
My dog hates my cat.
Para hacer oraciones con las terceras personas (he,she,it) conservamos la misma estructura con una modificación, al final delverbo le agregamos s .
But, there are some irregular verbs:

Irregular Verbs:
English Grammar Rules
Irregular verbs in
English in the present tense follow very simple rules. The only change that is
made to these verbs is in the third person – for He, She or It.
1. If the verb ends
in SS, X, CH, SH or the
letter O, we add + ES in the third person.
Verb

Kiss

Fix

Watch

Crash

Go

A mechanic fixes cars.
She watches soap operas every afternoon.
He kisses his wife before he goes to
work.
Sin embargo, existen algunas reglas gramaticales de acuerdo a la terminación del verbo: si el verbo termina en ss, o, x, ch, o en sh, agregamos es al verbo ⬆;
2. If the verb ends in
a Consonant + Y, we remove the Y and + IES in the
third person.
Verb
3rd Person
Carry
Carries
Hurry
Hurries
Study

Deny
Denies
Isabel studies every
night.
The baby cries all the time.
He denies all
responsibility.
pero si el verbo termina en y y antes hay una consonante, eliminamos la y y agregamos ies al verbo ⬆.
Write a sentence with each of the
verbs in the following list, using one of the third person forms (he, she or
it) and the respective grammar rule.
Believe – he / she / it believes Brush – he /she / it brushes Cry – he / she / it cries Declare – he / she / it declares Do – he /she / it does Eat – he / she / it eats Expect – he / she / it expects Feel – he / she / it feels Go – he / she / it goes Have - he /

ANSWERS
The answers to do/does questions are always “yes” or
“no”. This is why they are Yes/No Questions.
Question: Do you like chocolate? Answer: Yes I do. / No I do not.
Question: Does she have a brother? Answer: Yes she does. / No she does not.
NOTE:
When we use the auxiliary in the question, the s or the es of the verb disappears.
Las preguntas de afirmación y negación se forman situando el auxiliar Do o Does según corresponda al inicio de la pregunta. Cuando la pregunta se haga en tercera persona, la s del verbo desaparece, porque NUNCA debe ir al auxiliar y la s del verbo en la misma oración.
Negative sentences in simple present use do or does.
Structure
Subject + Do/Does+ Not + Verb + Complement
Examples:
·I
do not like hockey
·She does not live in Brazil.
Contractions
Do not = Don’t Does not = Doesn’t
Examples:
·They don’t have a dog.
·He doesn’t want a drink.
Al elaborar oraciones negativas en presente simple, utilizamos don't o doesn'tsegún corresponda antes del verbo. En las oraciones con terceras personas recordemos que la s del verbo desaparece.
